Be Good Kiddies and Eat Your Veggies

Early in the morning, Mr. DN likes to watch a certain news talk show.  Today’s lead off story was how tomato paste was deemed a vegetable to keep pizza and french fries as part of the school lunch program.  The ruling that their status should be changed came after objections from the frozen pizza and potato growing industries.  The host of the program went on to state that the biggest problem with this was the risk of cardio-vascular disease later in life for the children.

Hello?  Newman?  Newman?

Sorry, honey.  While protecting the health of children is certainly important, the biggest problem with this awful scenario is how we allow corporations to influence government policy to the detriment of everything else.

I got up in disgust and walked away.

La, la, la....

Today has been a strange day.  To me it feels like the world is holding its collective breath, waiting for that big freekin’ shoe to drop.  I made the rounds on the Internet, expecting to catch a glimmer of what’s coming down the pipe, but found a lot of noise and distractions cluttering up my path.  MF Global.  YU55.  Unexplained Internet outages.  Iran’s nuclear ambitions and Israel’s beating of war drums.  Each on their own is enough to scare the bejeebus out of anyone, but for some reason my bunny ears tell me that’s not it.  There is an unforeseen disturbance in the force.  That has unsettled me.  Step lightly, folks.
